Two Men Charged in Connection With Robbery of Two Gun Stores

Matthew A. Faupel is charged with two counts of burglary in the second and two counts of stealing a firearm. He is accused of robbing Pistols Plus in St. Peters.

Two men were charged Monday in connection with the robbery of two gun stores, C and S Metall Werkes, 4025 Old Highway 94 South and Pistols Plus, 3004 South Peters Parkway.

Matthew A. Faupel, of the 100 block of Gilbralter Point Court in St. Charles, was charged with two counts of stealing fire arms, a felony, and two counts of burglary in the second degree. Bond was set at $50,000, cash only.

According to St. Peters Police, an anonymous tip led them to Faupel's wife who told them Matthew Faupel was involved in the robbery of Pistols Plus. She said he robbed the gun store because he needed cash for their children's Christmas gifts.

Faupel admitted to breaking the front glass door of Pistols Plus on Dec. 17, 2010 and stealing 10-12 pistols, which he gave to Brandon Erhart, of the 1900 block of Easton Court in St. Charles, for cash and guns.

Faupel also admitted to burglarizing C and S Metall Werkes by cutting a hole in the wall of an adjoining business on June 20 and traded those for drugs and cash, according to the probable cause statement.

Erhart was charged with receiving stolen property, a felony. Further investigation found that Erhart was in possession of three stolen Glock hand guns. According to the probable cause statement, Erhart admitted the guns were stolen. Erhart's bond was set at $10,000 cash only.
