Updated: General Election Filings Begin Tuesday

St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano and four aldermanic seats will be up for grabs in the upcoming April 2012 General Election.

Filing season for the 2012 General Election kicks off Tuesday morning.

Starting at 8 a.m. applicants can file for office for the April 3, 2012, election. St. Peters will have five races open for potential candidates. Mayor Len Pagano and the four men to his left during St. Peters Board of Aldermen meetings at the are up for re-election. All five races are for four-year terms.

Pagano will most certainly be filing tomorrow morning. Back in July, Pagano to run for another term as St. Peters mayor. Pagano was a Ward 3 alderman from 1983-2007. He took over as mayor in 2007 and was elected to his first four-year term in 2008.

When Pagano announced his intentions to run again, he did so in tandem with Jerry Hollingsworth. The current Ward 2 representative has been on the Board since 1992. He will run again this year to extend his two-decade tenure on the Board. 

John Reitmeyer, better known as Rocky, confirmed he will be filing for another term as a Ward 1 representative. Reitmeyer has served on the Board since 2000.

Current Board President Tommy Roberts will be going for his second term on the Board. Roberts was elected in 2008 to serve Ward 3 and was named president of Board earlier in 2011. 

"I look forward to representing the good people in the 3rd Ward," Roberts said in an email. "I continue to work hard and get things done in our city."

In Ward 4, Patrick Barclay's spot will be up for grabs. Barclay has served on the Board since 2002 and earlier this year was recognized for never having missed a meeting.

Barclay intends to run again this year.  

The filing process begins Tuesday at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2012. Interested candidates can file between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday except on holidays. 

Qualified candidates may file their intent to run for an elected office at . There is a $75 filing fee for the intent to run for an elected office. On the first filing day only, candidates may enter through the west entrance of City Hall starting at 8 a.m.
