____________

Dave Thomas

Candidate for Ward 1 Alderman

Where do you live? My family and I have lived in Misty Valley Estates, St. Peters, Ward 1 since 2000.

What is your current job/position?  I currently seve as Alderman, Ward 1 - St. Peters; as a Financial Analyst in Integrated Scheduling with the Boeing Company; and as an Adjunct Instructor, American Studies with Lindenwood University.

Why are you running for Board of Aldermen? I am running for Ward 1 Board of Alderman to continue serving the wonderful residents of our great community with a personal history of ethical leadership and personal dedication to everyone in our city.  My focus on people-centric leadership ensures the growth of our city is dedicated towards what our people want in the growth and focus of a safe and secure place to worship, live and play.  My focus is to continue a drive of working together in building continued job growth with the expansion of businesses and development projects that do not end in empty buildings (elevated by a challenging economy) and through an inspiring vision of building a great place to overall "live, work, and play!"

Being elected and serving honorably as Alderman of Ward 1 St. Peters since April 2007, my focus on keeping St. Peters moving forward while maintaining its hometown charm is a direct impact of our city being selected as a top 100 city in the United States twice in the last four years I've been serving as Alderman—something that has never been accomplished in the history of our town.

Being an Alderman is about working together with the other elected officials in our city to create great growth and prosperity through job growth (although slower than desired due to the economy), structural growth through such projects as Old Town St. Peters enhancement, Rec-Plex expansion, Senior Center Expansion, new Justice Center and additional services and so much, much more.  Proven Leadership through fiscal government spending—putting people always first … this is why I am grateful to continue serving as your elected representative.

Relevant Experience: My family and I have always had a focus on living a life of service and caring. Personally, I have actively maintained my involvement and direct support through charitable organizations such as Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanity, the USO of Missouri at Lambert Airport, Clean-stream and environmental concerns, St. Peters Central County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and youth organizations and events such as the Boy Scouts of America (being an Eagle Scout recipient) and the St. Peters Youth Leadership Council, and involvement in local Veteran organizations in our county and with the Boeing Company.

These and more have all given me the drive to serve at the greater level of dedicated service to our community as an elected Representative of the people, for the people—people always being first. I have been active in supporting the St. Charles County Municipal League … a coalition of cities in our county focusing on the needs of our entire community—moving us to work together, not apart.

I have also faithfully attended the annual Missouri State Legislatures Conferences in Jefferson City to represent our city and Ward 1 as we gather to share in common concerns and issues, working together to find a way of resolving the very challenges that we all face in such harsh economic times.  While cities to the west and east of us have financially suffered greatly, St. Peters has lead the way in incredible growth and prosperity!

What do think you can you bring to this position? Serving in the Legislative branch of St. Peters as Alderman, Ward 1, I have brought to this position honesty, integrity, and a relevant mindset on ensuring the growth of our city and its services do no become a burden on the people.  My focus on maintaining our city services without laying off employees and at the same time NOT raising taxes on our people (in fact I voted to lower taxes my first year in office) is always my focus. I will continue to bring forward the residents concerns and ideas of making our city one of the greatest cities to live in, in the entire United States!

From the wonderful Rec-Plex, to our soon-to-open Lakeside 370 Park and Recreational Area, to the miles & miles of trails and acres & acres of parks  … all of this is a result of hard work and dedicated focus on "Doing What's Right" at all times and in all places—this is what I bring to this position.

Please tell us about one goal you have for this position: To focus on just one goal is to have already failed in this position, for I am not one person—I am a representative of thousands. Thus my goal is to continue my ethical leadership of listening to the people, working for the people, and making sure the incredible growth and prosperity of our city continues to be with the people.  From expanding and maintaining direct beneficial services that aid the individual family to the expansion and development of facilities and places that support the entire community—this is my goal as your Alderman in St. Peters … to serve others first, and myself last.
