Planning and Zoning Closes Out Year With Fifth Third Bank Site Plan Approval

The St. Peters Commission re-re-approved a site plan for the bank.

The St. Peters Planning and Zoning Commission closed out the 2012 year with it's final meeting on Wednesday night. One group was making a return appearance in front of the commission.

Fifth Third Bank returned to the Justice Center hoping the third time would be the charm. The bank, first came to the St. Peters Planning and Zoning Commission in the first meeting of 2011 to get approval of a site plan for a new location located south of the existing Walgreens on Mid Rivers Mall Drive on the same area as the new Goodwill store.

After construction didn't begin for a year, the bank returned in the last meeting of 2011 to have its site plan re-approved. During that meeting, the bank's representative Kurt Prosser said he hoped construction would being in either the spring or summer of 2012.

While the Goodwill store was a hive of construction this summer, work on the bank never starter. Because of that, Fifth Third Bank returned to the Planning and Zoning floor to re-re-approve the site plan.

A representative for the bank, Aaron Lang, said a sluggish economy has prevented construction. He said, however, that the bank is hoping to break ground  of the 4,125 square foot free standing bank in the spring of 2013.

Fifth Third Bank wasn't the lone site plan approved at the meeting. ABC Daycare, located on the south side of North St. Peters Parkway near Kisker Road, presented it's plans for a new facility. After a long discussion about the large roof, the commission approved the plan.

Also at the meeting:

  • Two home occupation permits where approved. One, Lafi Couture, was absent and was pushed back until January.
  • Two record plats were approved.
  • A new restaurant, Freddy's, showed early designs to the commission. The restaurant is planning on moving into the old Super Smokers building and do a complete overhaul. Freddy's plans to re-do the outside and inside of the restaurant.
