Storm Water Design Contracts Presented to Board of Aldermen

The Board of Aldermen will vote on the design contracts at the Feb. 14 meeting.

Thanks to the passage of Proposition P, St. Peters could begin working on storm water projects this summer.

During the Jan. 24 meeting of the Board of Aldermen, Public Works and Services Manager Russ Batzel presented the board with a series of design contracts for 16 projects impacting 12 subdivisions in St. Peters. The contracts, which Batzel had portioned off to five consulting firms, add up to $418,000. The board will vote on the contracts at the Feb. 14 meeting.

Batzel told the Suburban Journals that is the contracts are approved, work on the projects could being Feb. 20. According to the Journals, the city wants at least 30 percent of the designs completed by the end of April. At that point, officials then would review those plans with homeowners associations and final plans could be ready in June. If everything stays on track, construction bids could be in by July and August.

The storm water projects are broken down into six parts. According to the work session agenda:

  • Black & Veatch: Design basins at Country Creek and Canyon Creek
  • Barr Engineering: Design basins for Country Lake, Turnberry and Crown Colony
  • Geosyntec: Design basins for Pegasus Farm and Willott
  • H.R. Green: Design stream restoration for Country Crossing
  • Barr Engineering: Design the basins at Ohmes Farms
  • Grove Design Group: Design the basins at Applewood and Enwood

The money for the storm water projects come from the passage of Proposition P. In August voters approved a four-tenths of a cent sales tax increase that the city said could bring in more than $4 million annually.
