Athlete of the Week: Holt's Mitchell Tops Fan Vote Again

Holt's Tray Mitchell won the fan vote for GAC football player of the year.

All Tray Mitchell does is win.

Holt's Mitchell, was a 3-time Patch Athlete of the Week champion for his prowess on the football field. This time he won the GAC football player of the year crown in the fan's vote.

Who was the top GAC football player in 2012?

  • Shane Barrett—Fort Zumwalt East: 1 vote (3 percent)
  • Donte Harrell—Francis Howell: 10 votes (30 percent)
  • Armand Keely—Orchard Farm: 0 votes (0 percent)
  • Tray Mitchell—Holt: 22 votes (66 percent)

Mitchell, the Holt running back ,had a big season for the Indians. Mitchell was the Indians' workhorse. He carried the ball 156 times for 1,157 yards—good for the tops in the GAC Central. His 7.4 yards per carry was tops among all GAC runners with at least 100 carries. Mitchell scored 12 touchdowns on the season to place second in the Central.
