Sports Report: Conference Matchups, Rivalry Game Highlight Weekly Schedule

Spring sports roll on with another big week in St. Peters.

The spring season rolls on in St. Peters.

This week, as teams begin to pull away, the games are getting bigger. Conference play is picking up. Rivalry games are springing up. It's a big week on the fields and playing surfaces. 

Let's see what games are on the schedule around St. Peters. 

  • Who: (Baseball) Zumwalt East vs. St. Charles West at
  • When/Where:10 a.m. on Saturday, April 14 at T.R. Hughes
  • Why the big deal?: Entering the week the Fort Zumwalt East baseball team is 9-5 and averaging more than seven runs scored per game. On Saturday, the Lions will hit the big field at T.R. Hughes for a GAC North battle with St. Charles West. 

  • Who: (Girls soccer) Zumwalt South vs. Fort Zumwalt West
  • When/Where:4 p.m. on Monday, April 9, at Zumwalt West.
  • Why the big deal?: The Zumwalt South girls soccer team is 7-3 to start the season, but records don't matter too much when it comes to rivalry games. On Monday the girls will kick off the week with a road trip to take on Zumwalt West in a GAC battle. 

  • Who: (Girls) Lutheran at Lutheran North
  • When/Where: 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at Lutheran North
  • Why the big deal?: Led by Natalie Weinhold's team-best nine goals, the Lutheran girls are 5-3 on the young season. The Cougars will put that record to the test on Tuesday when the girls take on Lutheran North. 

Francis Howell Central

  • Who: (Baseball) Francis Howell Central vs. Troy
  • When/Where: 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at home.
  • Why the big deal?: Howell Central has jumped out to a hot start on the season with a 9-2 record. On Tuesday the Spartans baseball team will open the GAC South season with a home game against Troy.
