State Wars Roller Hockey Championships Begin Wednesday at St. Peters Rec-Plex

Game, which are free and open to the public, run from Aug. until Aug. 12.

Roller hockey teams from 26 states and four Canadian provinces will be heading to to take place in State Wars 8

The three ice rinks at the and Rec-Plex South have been re-purposed and transformed into roller hockey rinks for State Wars 8—the two-week roller hockey tournament that determines the United States Roller Hockey Championships. State Wars 8 begins at 7 a.m. on Aug. 1 and runs until Aug. 12, 2012.

Players from all over are selected to represent their home state or province to compete for a national title. The competition will take place in 18 different divisions with varying age groups, starting with players born in 2004 up to the over-35 division. A total of 280 teams and about 2,700 players will compete in State Wars 8.

All games are during the competition are open to the public and free. Two of the rinks are at the newer Rec-Plex South facility, including an arena that seats up to 1,200 people. One rink is at the original Rec-Plex building.

The 2012 State Wars will take place for the first time in St. Peters and Missouri.
