Five Ways to Volunteer at Gentiva Hospice

Learn more about how to volunteer for this Maryland Heights-based organization.

Gentiva Hospice, formerly Odyssey Hospice, has a number of volunteer opportunities for local groups.
Check out some of the ways you can help.

  • Make and donate personal items including blankets, pillows, afghans, purses, wheelchair bags, scarves and more. Items are distributed to patients throughout the year.
  • Veterans can become a Veteran Support Patient Volunteer. These volunteers visit patients on hospice that are also veterans at locations throughout the St. Louis area.
  • Office volunteers are needed to help with database development. This perso n would research and compile contact information for veterans programs as the group develops the Vets Caring for Vets program. Volunteers would work 2-3 hours a week at the office at Westport.
  • Caregiver Relief Providers help keep hospice patients company for 1-2 hours to provide a caregiver with a break. Volunteers read to patients, write letters, play music, games and share conversation.
  • Bereavement office support volunteers create bereavement charts, close charts, assist with mailing and documentation, computer work, phone calls and copying paperwork.
To learn more about these opportunities, contact Emily Jokerst, Manager of Volunteer Services, at (314) 275-6100 or atEmily.Jokerst@gentiva.com.
Gentiva Hospice is located at 2055 Craigshire Road, Suite 410, St. Louis, MO 63146.
